The country's power facilities have faced escalating strikes in the past few days

Overnight, Russian missile and drone strikes have caused blackouts in extensive areas of the capital city, Kyiv.

A number of civilians were wounded while inhabitants in the city's east were plunged into darkness and encountered interruptions to water systems, as stated by municipal leaders.

At the same time, a seven-year-old child was fatally injured in a distinct Russian drone strike in the Zaporizhzhia region in the country's south-east, according to area administrators.

Moscow has escalated attacks on energy facilities over the past few days, while officials has demanded "concrete actions" from international partners to exert influence on Moscow.

"What is required is not superficial actions but decisive action - from the US, Europe and the Group of Seven - in supplying air defence systems and implementing penalties," was stated in a social media post.

Officials stated that hundreds of unmanned aircraft and several dozen missiles targeted the country's power systems, describing such attacks as "strategic and deliberate" and against "essential services" as the weather cools.

Energy officials said Russia was "launching a major assault" and maintenance teams were striving to fix the damage.

A series of attacks struck power facilities and residential structures in Kyiv.

Multiple people hurt in the strikes on the capital have been taken to hospital, per statements from municipal representatives.
